Few pastors in Haiti have formal biblical training. Often times, local churches are led by individuals who have grown up in the community as active members of the church who naturally take over leadership of the local congregations as previous leaders leave their positions. This natural transition and lack of formal training creates a great need to equip local pastors with a better understanding of God's Word and how to effectively teach Biblical principles. To meet this need, HAFF utilizes visiting North American pastors as well as full-time staff members to teach and mentor local church leaders.

The demands placed on local pastors and HAFF missionaries make regular meetings difficult. Therefore, this program is intermittent, focusing on pastor conferences held at various times throughout the year. Conferences are often scheduled when North American pastors are visiting and have prepared lessons to share with church leaders. These leaders may walk in from hours away. The focus may be on such things as Bible content, use of Bible concordance or understanding the Westminster catechism (both available in Haitian Creole).

If you are a pastor and are interested in visiting HAFF, please contact us. Your training will be beneficial to Bohoc and surrounding communities because not only will your presence bring encouragement, it will also bring living water to the shepherds of these local flocks.
